When Will Somebody Dare Say The Truth About Iraq?

I keep waiting for somebody - anybody - to speak the truth about Iraq.
The truth would look something like this:
"Question: President Bush - When are our troops coming home from Iraq?
President Bush: Hopefully, never!"
The only reason Bush sent American forces into Iraq was to establish a permanent U.S. military presence in the Middle East, in a location where they could provide protection for the Saudi thugs and all of the other petrocrats, but outside of the "holy land" of Saudi Arabia itself so as not to annoy the fundamentalist crazies.
Anybody have any other plausible explanation as to what we're doing there? Do we have any other conceivable "mission" that we are trying to complete other than the mission of staying there permanently?
When is it going to dawn on somebody to come out and say this?
PS - Read Sleeping With The Devil by Robert Baer. It gets close.

Yo Blair!

I just read that Tony Blair is canceling his vacation plans. Bush may need donuts at any time, and Blair must be available on a moment's notice. Eternal vigilance is the price of poodlism.
